The students selected to avail benefits under the scheme would be exempted from payment of tuition fee for the entire duration of four years of specific degree course, the Chief Minister said after inaugurating the camp office of the office at Hamirpur.
Students belonging to BPL, Antyodaya and those having annual family income of less than Rs 2.50 lakh would be eligible to avail exemption in payment of tuition fee, he said.
Dhumal said the University would also be ensuring reservation of 5 per cent seats to students from these categories.
"There were many intelligent and outstanding students but were not able to pursue different vocational courses due to lack of financial support and the new scheme would be of immense help to them," Dhumal said.
