A Hindu religious leader from Vrindavan, Acharya Devmurari Bapu, on Sunday threatened to commit suicide outside Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath's residence here on Monday, alleging that the CM has ignored his demand for a post in the state cow protection board.
State Minister for Religious Trust and Endowment, P C Sharma, however, said the government had not made any promise of giving a post to the religious leader in the state Gau Samvardhan Board (cow protection board).
Devmurari Bapu claimed that he had campaigned for the Congress ahead of the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls held last year.
"Congress could not have formed the government in MP without the help of seers and saints. But, the government is neither listening to us nor responding satisfactorily. I had asked them to appoint me in the state's Gau Samvardhan Board, but they are constantly ignoring me," he told PTI after a press conference here.
The 'katha vachak' (preacher) from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh said, "I had told the chief minister (Kamal Nath) that if I am not given the honour by August 15, I will commit suicide in front of his residence."
"Accordingly, I will reach the Polytechnic Square with my supporters on Monday noon and commit suicide out the CM's house. If police arrest me, they can, but after releasing me, I will meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to apprise her about my demand," he said.
"I am being threatened for working in favour of the Congress. Therefore, the MP government should also provide security to me," he added.
However, minister Sharma said, "We have never made the promise to appoint him in Gau Samvardhan Board, which is yet to be constituted. I will talk to Devmurari Bapu ji. He is a saint and suitable respect will be given to him," Sharma said.

"I have talked to him over phone and meet him to talk about all these issues," he told PTI.
Earlier, another Hindu religious leader Computer Baba, whose original name is Namdeo Das Tyagi, had rebelled against the erstwhile BJP government in the state in October last year.
A friend-turned-foe of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, Computer Baba was accorded the status of Minister of State (MoS) by the BJP government. However, after resigning from his post, the religious leader had campaigned for the Congress in November 2018 assembly elections.
In March this year, the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh appointed Computer Baba as the chairman of a river trust in the state.
