A Hindu organisation today demanded an apology from a Rajasthan government minister for his alleged remarks against Brahmins.

Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha here demanded an apology within 24 hours from Tribal Area Development Minister Nand Lal Meena for his alleged remarks as the Brahmins were responsible for the backwardness of Meena community.

"The minister said in Karauli on Sunday that Brahmin community was responsible for the backwardness of Meena which is totally misleading and derogatory statement. The minister should tender an apology," Mahasabha state president Suresh Mishra said.

He said the Mahasabha will intensify its agitation if Meena did not tender an apology for hurting sentiments of the people of the community.

The minister was not available for comments.
