Dressed up as 'Lord Shiva,' a man today sought immediate intervention of the district administration to shift the TASMAC liquor outlet run by the Government, functioning near the famous Patteeswaran Temple in Perur in the city to maintain its sanctity.

"Lord Shiva" was part of a delegation of Bharatsena, which submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, Archana Patnaik that temple, with Shiva as presiding deity, was attracting thousands of devotees from world over.

However, the liquor outlet just in the vicinity was spoiling the sanctity and sacredness of the temple and devotees, particularly women, were afraid to move around, it said.

Despite several memorandums by different Hindu outfits seeking the removal of the outlet, the administration failed to act and considering the plight of the devotees, the Sena appealed to the collector to take action at the earliest.
