Announcing this at a press conference here, Hindustan FC president Sushil Pandit said that the decision to launch the team was in line with the club philosophy to support women's football.
"Delhi Soccer Association is looking to kickstart its women's league and Hindustan FC would not want to be left behind," Pandit said.
There is hardly any club-level women's football tournament in the country but Pandit said things may change soon and his club can groom players to represent the country.
He also claimed that Hindustan FC was the only team among I-League first and second division clubs to have a women's side.
Hindustan FC will, however, have to get its women's team registered with the DSA.
"We have applied for registration and the DSA Managing Committee will take a decision in its meeting to be held soon," Hindustan FC Director D K Bose said.

If registered, Hindustan FC will become the sixth such team under DSA. Five women's teams took part in a tournament held under the aegis of DSA last year, which was won by Garhwal Heroes.
"The DSA Managing Committee will decide on Hindustan FC's registration. We had some time back issued a circulation that all the Division A and B sides can have their women's teams. Now, we have five women's teams affiliated to DSA," DSA vice-president N K Bhatia told PTI.
Hindustan FC women's team will be led by Indian Under-19 international Neha Kapoor and has some national level players, including Kuhelika Guha, who attended India camp in 2009.
"Most of the players are in colleges and some are working. We have signed proper contracts and it is going to be a professional set-up with salary structure and all. We are grateful to Hindustan FC for coming forward and promoting women's football," Neha said.
