Hindustan Zinc reverses gain to settle 1% down

The shares of Hindustan Zinc dived almost one per cent on bourses today, reversing the initial gains it made after getting environment clearance (EC) amended for increasing lead-zinc and ore production capacity in Rajasthan.

On BSE, the stock settled at Rs 249.85, down 0.93 per cent from previous close. It had opened at Rs 254.25 and jumped 1.64 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 256.35, before tumbling.

Following a decline in the counter, the market capitalisation of the company decreased by Rs 999.95 crore to Rs 1,05,569.60 crore.

The scrip settled 0.87 per cent down at Rs 250.20 on NSE. In intra-day trade, it rose 1.45 per cent to touch a high of Rs 256.05, before going down.
 

On the volume front, over 11.11 lakh shares of the company changed hands on the bourses.

"Based on the recommendations of the expert advisory committee (EAC), the Environment Ministry has given approval for amending the EC given to Hindustan Zinc for its expansion project in Rajasthan," a senior government official said.
