Hiring up 22% in March, bullishness to continue: Naukri.com

Among cities, Hyderabad leads the list in hiring activity with a 50%

Hiring activity registered a 22% surge in March, mainly driven by sectors like, IT-software, information technology enabled-services (ITeS), telecom and insurance and the bullishness is likely to continue, a Naukri.com report said.

According to the leading job portal, the Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of March stood at 1,968, recording an increase of 22% in hiring activity over last year.

"Post 18% growth in February, job market continues to sustain the momentum gained with a 22% growth in March," Naukri.com Chief Sales Officer V Suresh said, adding that the growth was primarily driven by sectors like IT, ITeS, insurance and telecom.
 

"Looks like good times ahead for jobseekers in 2016," he added.

Demand for professionals in IT-software and ITeS has seen sustained growth in the last few months and for March, professionals in these industries saw their jobs grow by 25% and 48%, respectively.

Increase in demand for sales and business development professionals was also seen during the period from March 2015 to March this year, where the index fluctuated a bit during the year but ended with a 17% growth.

Demand for banking professionals also reported a 20% year-on-year growth.

Among cities, Hyderabad leads the list in hiring activity with a 50% growth followed by Mumbai and Chennai with 45% and 43% growth, respectively.

Delhi and NCR reported an increase of 42% in hiring activity in March this year.
