Heat wave today continued to sweep many parts of Haryana and Punjab with Hisar turning out to be the hottest place in the two states at 42.5 degrees Celsius.
Hisar's maximum was five notches above normal while Amritsar in Punjab also recorded a near similar high at 42.3 degrees Celsius, four notches more than normal.
Narnaul (41.5 degrees Celsius) and Ambala (39.5 degrees Celsius) also experienced a hot day.

There was no relief from the hot weather conditions for the residents of Ludhiana in Punjab, where the maximum settled at 41 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
Patiala's maximum settled at 40.7 deg C, up by three notches.
The MeT has forecast light rain/thunder showers at a few places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
Thunder squalls accompanied with hail with wind speed exceeding 45 kmph may occur at isolated places in the two states until tomorrow.
