History of mangrah massacre to be included in syllabus: Gehlot

The government is examining the history Mangarh massacre of 1912 and efforts are being made to include it in syllabus, he said.

"We are examining the records so that the history could be popularised.

It should come to the knowledge of the country that tribal communities had played an important role in the freedom struggle," Gehlot said.

Gehlot unveiled a statue of Govind Guru, a freedom fighter, at Mangarh Dham in Banswara district.

He also paid homage to the martyrs of Mangarh massacre by British troops.

Speaking on the occasion, Gehlot said that Bhil community (tribals) had played important role in the freedom struggle and the history should come before people.

 

Meanwhile, BJP also held a function near Mangarh to pay tributes to the martyrs.
