A history-sheeter has been arrested in Bharatpur district for his alleged involvement in over 20 cases of robbery and theft in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, police said today.
Jafroodeen was arrested from Adhabali village late last night after a brief encounter with the police while his accomplices managed to flee and a 12 bore rifle and seven live cartridges were recovered from him, said Superintendent of Police (Bharatpur) Rahul Prakash.
Prakash said Jafroodeen is wanted in at least 20 cases of loot, dacoity, vehicle theft and attack on police in Alwar, Bharatpur and in states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
He also had a bounty of Rs 3000 for his arrest.
