The Anakapalle Town police arrested a history sheeter and his associate, as well as recovered two country-made pistols, 13 bullets, a mobile phone and a bike from them.

Those arrested have been identified as R Karthik and history sheeter Karri Rajesh, who created a scare at Anakapalle on November 26 by trying to open fire at his rival Dadi Krishna with an illegal firearm when Krishna and his friends were having tea at a road-side stall near Perugubazar area, Superintendent of Police (Visakha Rural) Koya Praveen told reporters here today.

He said that Karri Rajesh, a native of Anakapalle developed rivalry with Dadi Krishna, a real-estate businessman of Anakapalle over a few issues including land settlement.

A few months ago, Dadi Krishna and his men badly beat up Rajesh over an issue, due to which Rajesh fostered a grudge against Krishna.

Since he was beaten up by Krishna, Rajesh decided to eliminate Krishna.

Rajesh was arrested on charges of assaulting a person and sent to Anakapalle sub-jail, where Rajesh befriended an offender R Karthik, a native of Jagarapuvanipalem under Sabbavaram mandal.

After being released from prison, Rajesh and Karthik went to Kharagpur in West Bengal, where Karthik had worked earlier to procure two country-made guns for Rs 60,000.

On November 26, Rajesh waited for Krishna and his men with the pistol at Perugubazar area and tried to open fire at them.

However, the gun failed to fire after which Rajesh and Karthik fled the spot on a bike.

After Krishna filed a complaint, the Anakapalle Town police registered a case.

The SP said that Rajesh and Karthik had gone to Tuni of East Godavari after Rajesh failed to open fire at Krishna.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anakapalle police nabbed the two as they were planing to go Odisha and recovered the illegal firearm as well as bullets.
