History-sheeter arrested in UP, ammunition seized

A man wanted in multiple cases of murder, loot and narcotics smuggling has been arrested following an encounter with security forces at Kosi Kalan town here, police said today.

"The accused, Govinda, was arrested yesterday. He has been hospitalised after he hurt his leg in the encounter," SP (City) Shravan Kumar Singh said.

Govinda, who carried a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, is accused of killing trader Krishna Pal in 2016 in Kosi Kalan town, the officer said.

Singh said the wanted criminal was held in the joint operation of Swat team led by police incharge Harvender Mishra and the Kosi Kalan police led by SHO Udaiveer Singh.
 

A country-made pistol, six live cartridges and a motorbike without number plate have been seized from the possession of the accused, he said.
