History-sheeter shot at

A history-sheeter was injured when two unidentified persons opened fire at him in Govandi in suburban Mumbai here this morning, police said.

The victim was identified as Raees Mohammed, alias Pappu Kalia (36), who has 16 to 17 cases registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, Shivaji Nagar police said.

The incident happened when Kalia was on his way home on his motorbike in Govandi when two men drew up to him on another motorcycle and the pillion rider fired two rounds.

One of the bullets hit Raees' left thigh after which he fell down while the assailants fled from the spot. However, he managed to reach nearby Rajawadi hospital in suburban Ghatkopar with the help of a passerby, a police source said.
 

The hospital authorities informed the police that a person with bullet injury was admitted in the hospital.

A case of attempt to murder against unidentified persons was lodged, police said.
