Himachal Lokhit Party, while ruling out merger with BJP, today extended its support to Aam Aadmi Party, saying the move will avoid splitting of votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"The core group of HLP has decided not to contest Lok Sabha polls this time and to support Aam Aadmi Party, which has a common agenda to weed out corruption like HLP," HLP president Maheshwar Singh told reporters here.
"We are limited to Himachal Pradesh while AAP is a national phenomenon and we thought it is proper not to contest polls to avoid splitting of votes," he said.
The HLP had raised voice against corruption in previous BJP regime and would pinpoint corruption in the present Congress government too, Singh said alleging that the Congress government had not shown interest to probe corruption charges during BJP regime with an expected speed.
