A phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted in a school premises at a village here turned out to be a hoax as security agencies found nothing suspicious in a thorough search, police said today.

The call was received by a school receptionist on her mobile phone from an unknown person at around 7:45 AM that a bomb has been planted in the school in Pandori Khajoor village and it would explode at 11 AM.

She immediately informed the school authorities about the call and they declared a holiday.

The 'bomb' call sent the security agencies into a tizzy and immediately anti-sabotage teams, including a bomb squad, were pressed into service to search the school premises and adjoining areas, Hoshiarpur SSP Dhanpreet Kaur said here.

"The call was taken seriously and nothing was left to chance. The school premises and the adjoining areas were thoroughly searched and nothing suspicious was found," the SSP said.

She said such calls were not taken lightly and the police took all measures to ensure the safety of people.
