Swiss cement maker Holcim, which owns majority stake in ACC and Ambuja Cement, today said Bernard Terver will be its new Area Manager for India.
The appointment follows incumbent Onne van der Weijde's decided to leave the company with effect from June 1, Holcim said in a statement.
"Member of the Holcim Executive Committee Bernard Terver, responsible for the Indian subcontinent, takes over direct responsibility for the country," it said.

A French national, Terver has been on the Board of Ambuja Cements as a non-executive promoter director representing Holcim with effect from December 4, 2013. He is also on the ACC Board.
After beginning his career in the steel industry, Terver moved in 1977 to cement producer CEDEST, which was taken over by Holcim France in 1994. Since then he has donned various caps in the company which appointed him as a member of senior management with effect April 1, 2010.
In December last year, he was inducted on the Holcim board as an additional director.
ACC and Ambuja Cement with a combined capacity of over 57 mtpa in India. Ambuja Cement has 27.25 mtpa capacity and ACC the rest.
