Ikkjutt Jammu, an organisation founded by one of the advocates who had defended the accused in Kathua rape and murder case, on Wednesday reiterated its demand for a CBI probe into the incident.
The demand was made a day after a local court directed registration of an FIR against the investigating police officials.
"IkkJutt Jammu stands vindicated. The acquittal of Vishal Jangotra (one of the accused) by the Pathankot trial court and registration of FIR against the SIT members are two major developments...," Ikkjutt Jammu chief Ankur Sharma told reporters here.
Alleging conspiracy behind the January 2018 incident, Sharma urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a CBI probe into the incident so that people of Jammu who have been accused of being pro-rapist heave a sigh of relief.
"A CBI probe is imperative to bring to justice all conspirators," he said.
A Jammu court on Tuesday directed that an FIR be registered against then SSP R K Jalla (now retired), ASP Peerzada Naveed, deputy superintendents of police Shetmbari Sharma and Nissar Hussain and sub-inspectors Urfan Wani and Kewal Kishore.
