Hold community policing around religious places: Police

People especially living in rural areas have been asked to hold 'Thikri Pehras' (community policing) around religious places in the state to check the incidents of desecration, a senior official said here today.

PCR staff has been also asked to make rounds of all religious places on regular basis, the official said.

"These orders have been issued by under section 3 of Punjab Village Towns/Patrol Act 1918 and section 144 of CrPC 1973," Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggrawal said.

These orders would remain till January 3 next year, he added.

The management committees of religious organisations were asked to install CCTV's in their premises, as well as maintain proper record of people staying or working there.
 

Aggrawal said that some unscrupulous elements are also actively involved in misguiding the public by posting fake photographs on social media and also appealed that people should not fall prey to it.

Meanwhile at several places in the state, the members of Peace Committee, District Administration, members of religious and social organisations have appealed to people that they should maintain peace and communal harmony in the state.
