Holed up ultras, security forces trade fire in Kupwara

An encounter broke out between militants, holed up in a house, and security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir today, police sources said.

Acting on a specific information about the presence of militants in a house in Shatipora village at Handwara, some 90 km from here, army and police launched a joint operation in the area.

As security forces cordoned the area, the militants fired at them, the sources said.

Security personnel retaliated triggering a gunbattle, they said, adding there was no report of any casualty so far.
