Homage paid at French War Memorial on 69th anniversary of WWII

: District Collector S B Deepak Kumar (representing the Lt Governor), French Consul General in Puducherry Philippe Janvier Kamiyama were among those who paid homage at the statue of Unknown Soldier at the French war memorial on the 69th anniversary of end of World War II today.

Puducherry, a former French colony, holds such programmes every year in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of France in World War II.

Deepak Kumar and others observed silence for a couple of minutes after placing wreaths at the foot of the statue. The band wing of the Puducherry police played the national anthems of India and France.
