Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today rejected Government Chief Whip P C George's allegation that the state DGP had tried to sabotage a case relating to the murder of a security guard in which a rich businessman is involved.

Reacting to the allegation, Chennithala said "DGP K S Balasubramaniyam has a good track record and is an officer with integrity. We have full confidence in him."

However, Chennithala said government would examine the evidence that George could produce to substantiate his charges.

Earlier in the day George, a nominee of Kerala Congress (M), had triggered a controversy by saying that the DGP had tried to divert the murder case of security guard Chandra.

The case relates to the death of the 50-year-old security guard of a posh residential complex at Thrissur after business man Nisham allegedly attacked him for delay in opening the gate of the complex last month.

The incident, in which Nisham allegedly roughed up the security guard, dragged him to the wall of the parking lot and rammed his Hummer vehicle into his body, had evoked widespread protests in the state.
