Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed police modernisation and reforms in the country and directed that a stronger monitoring mechanism should be put in place to ensure proper and timely utilisation of funds.

At a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry, he directed that since the financial powers to Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been enhanced to Rs 20 crore, CAPFs should ensure timely and quality procurement of equipment for the forces.

The Home Minister also discussed different reports on police reforms and their status of implementation.

Singh said that the accepted recommendations of these reports should be implemented in consultation with the states at the earliest.

The Home Minister also discussed the status of the National Security Commission and State Security Commissions in the country in the backdrop of a 2006 Supreme Court judgement.
