A Deputy Director-level officer in Home Ministry allegedly committed suicide in a government hospital here, doctors said today.
The incident was reported from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital on late Thursday night.
Hospital authorities claimed the 55-year-old official was admitted to the hospital on March 12 and a day later he was shifted to a private ward.

"On Thursday 11 pm, his daughter went out to get a bottle of water when he hanged himself. She alerted us and he was brought down. Doctors tried to revive him but could not," the doctor said.
Police said when they reached the spot, his body was lying on bed and they could say about the cause of death only after postmortem report.
The body was sent for postmortem to Lady Hardinge hospital.
