An officer, working with a sensitive division of the Home Ministry, has been sacked for allegedly indulging in corrupt practices and unethical practices.

Services of G C Yadav, who was working with the police division of the Home Ministry, has been terminated after he was allegedly found in indulging in wrongdoings, including corruption.

Yadav had retired some time ago as Deputy Secretary and was reappointed on contractual basis as consultant.

Taking a strong view of finding his alleged malpractices, the Home Ministry ordered termination of his contract abruptly last week, sources said.

"Our government is very clear about providing clean and efficient administration and the officer was found to be working against that. Hence the action has been taken," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju told PTI.

Police division is considered to be a highly sensitive wing of the Home Ministry and deals with matters relating to IPS officers all over the country. The Home Ministry is the cadre controlling authority of IPS officers.

The action comes at a time when the central government is reviewing the efficiency of its employees. It has been taking strict action against employees found involved in corrupt practices, a senior Home Ministry official said.
