An air flier coming from Muscat has been held for allegedly smuggling in half-a-dozen gold biscuits valued at Rs 1.5 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.
The person, identified as Z H Faheem, a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, was intercepted yesterday evening by Central Industrial Security Force sleuths after they noticed his suspicious movements at the airport terminal on landing, a senior official said.
Security personnel had noticed that Faheem was allegedly trying to hide something in the dustbin located in one of the bathrooms at the IGIA, the official said, adding that on frisking, six gold biscuits weighing 1.04 kg and wrapped neatly in cigarette packets was recovered from him.
The person was subsequently handed over to Customs authorities for further action.
