Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) would raise the production capacity of two-wheelers in 2016 after the commencement of operations of its new plant, a top company official said.
"Our production capacity at present in the three plants is 4.6 million units. After the commencement of operations of the Gujarat plant in 2016, the production capacity will increase by 1.2 million units per year", Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO of HMSI said.
The company today launched a two-wheeler in the 160 cc segment targeting the youths.

In the scooter segment, the company's market share is 55 per cent.
He said that during 2015, the company will launch 15 new models, out of which seven would be brand new while 8 would be refreshed.
During the current fiscal, the company expects to sell about 45 lakh units, up from 37 lakh in last fiscal.
He said that India was the core market for two-wheelers in the world.
