With the arrest of three women, police claimed to have busted a honeytrap gang that would extort money from the businessmen in the city while threatening them with rape allegations.
Among the accused, the two women on the night of May 17 approached Nayapura police station and lodged a case of alleged rape against a leading businessman and owner of a restaurant in the city, investigating officer Amar Nath said.
Acting on the womens' complaint, the police began investigating the matter. However, during investigation, the charges proved to be false and fabricated, he said.

After that another woman also began calling him for the job. When he met her on Wednesday, she allegedly forced herself upon him. When the businessman resisted, she threatened him that she would Lodge a rape case against him and demanded Rs 50 lakh, Nath said.
The three women, arrested yesterday, were today produced before a court which sent the two to judicial custody and another to police remand, the officer said.
Police said they can not rule out the role of some male members in the gang.
