Punjab government has enhanced the amount of honorarium to be paid to mayors, senior deputy mayors and deputy mayors of all municipal corporations in the state.
Anil Joshi, state Minister for Local Bodies, today said the department has given its nod to the proposal of enhancement in the honorarium of all mayors, senior deputy mayors, deputy mayors of all 10 municipal corporations in the state.
Divulging further details, he said the honorarium of mayor has been hiked from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month, senior deputy mayor from Rs 16,000 to Rs 24,000 and deputy mayor from Rs 12,500 to Rs 18,725 per month, a release quoting Joshi said here.

Similarly the constituency allowance for mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month and telephone allowance from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per month.
The minister said the constituency allowance for the councillors has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month where as telephone allowance for the councillors has been enhanced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per month.
