The 38-year-old actor said that he took no time to say yes to the "I Am Kalam" director when he read the script as he was "blown away" by the story.

"I said yes to the film as soon as I finished reading the script as I was completely blown away by it. I feel honoured that Madhav asked me to be part of his film. He is a great director, who has attained national and international recognition in no time.

"Working with him has been one of my best experience till date. We have become great friends now. Next time if he asks me to be part of his film, I will not even ask for a script and just say yes," Dabas told PTI.

"Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid" is an adventure thriller based on the issue of female foeticide and also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, child artistes Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi and Harsh Mayar.

"I play a doctor based in Delhi, who visits his village in Haryana alongwith his children and wife for a vacation. Though it focuses on the issue of female foeticide, it is an adventure film, a very light one. Madhav has weaved the serious subject in such a way that the film does not have a heaviness about it. It is entertaining and enjoyable," Dabas added.

The film was screened at Marche du Cannes film festival. It was also nominated at the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). (MORE)
