Hooch manufacturing unit raided in Daman, five nabbed

The police today raided a hooch manufacturing unit and arrested five men from Dabhel area of the Union Territory of Daman.

A team of the Central Excise Department and the police raided a unit where adulterated liquor was being manufactured, and arrested five persons, said Excise Officer R C Meena.

Police seized 240 boxes with 48 bottles apiece.

The unit was located on a deserted spot near Kevdi-Faliya area. Owner of the unit managed to flee, Meena added.

The unit supplied liquor to bootleggers in neighbouring Gujarat (where prohibition is in force), police suspect.
