Commercialisation of journalism was not in the interest of the society, Hooda said in a function here.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 10.50 lakh on behalf of Haryana Patarkar Sangh to the two sons of senior journalist Liladhar Shastri, who was killed in an accident in 1998.
Hooda announced a financial aid of Rs 3 lakh to Shastri's family.
On the request of the Indian Journalist Union which sought his help in getting the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board for working journalists implemented, Hooda said that he supported the demand of the union and when he was a Member of Parliament, he had raised his voice in the favour of journalists.
In the function, Hooda released Calendar-2013 on Women Freedom Fighters prepared by Science Education Art Research Centre, Haryana.
