Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today supported the demand of jewellers against the union budget's proposal to levy one per cent excise duty on non-silver jewellery items and said the issue would be raised in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha by the Congress MPs.

While participating in the dharna of jewellers association at Ambala Cantt this evening, he said all the Congress MLAs would send a joint memorandum to the Union Finance Minister in which they would demand the rollback of the proposal to levy one per cent excise duty on non-silver jewellery items.

Former HPCC chief Phool Chand Mullana, MLA Kuldeep Sharma and former minister Nirmal Singh also addressed the jewellers and supported their demands.
