Claiming that his government is making relentless efforts to include south Haryana in the process of state's progress, Harayana chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda took a dig at his rivals and said those who allege discrimination should go for a reality check.
The Chief Minister, while speaking at a public function here in Rewari district, said if one wants to know about the development initiatives taken by his government, he or she should ask the MLAs or general public.
On this occasion, Hooda announced to upgrade the Meerpur Regional Centre of MDU, Rohtak into a full-fledged university, and said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be laying foundation stone of the country's first defence University in Gurgaon on May 23.
Hooda's remarks apparently referred to his own partyman and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, who has repeatedly charged Haryana government with discrimination in development of south Haryana.
Singh, who had recently floated non-political Haryana 'Insaaf Manch' and was not part of today's rally, had been vocal against Hooda in recent past, accusing the CM of being Rohtak-centric in his development works.
While the Gurgaon MP had claimed he was not invited for today's event, Power Minister Ajay Singh Yadav, who had organised the rally, said he had sent invitation to Singh.
"In previous regimes, progress of this area had been ignored, but after 2005, since I took over, development initiatives have been put on fast track," Hooda said.
"Figures speak that from year 1999 to 2005, during the government of INLD-BJP, Rs 435.50 crore was spent on district Rewari, whereas during past eight years, a sum of over Rs 3,328 crore has been spent," Hooda added.
