Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said he will appear before the Justice S N Dhingra Commission of Inquiry on March 25, after being summoned to join the investigation into land deals conducted during his tenure as CM.

"I will appear (before the Commission) on March 25 as I have been summoned," Hooda told reporters here today.

Asserting that he had not done anything illegal, Hooda questioned the intention of the BJP government behind the formation of the Commission.

"I have not done anything wrong...Everybody knows the intention of the (BJP) government," he said adding that the scope of the Commission had been fixed to probe only a particular area.

The Commission, set up in 2015, had yesterday asked Hooda to appear before it by March 23 and record his statements regarding allotment of land to Skylight Hospitality, promoted by Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and hundreds of other private companies, including DLF.

Last month, the Commission had summoned Haryana Chief Secretary Deepinder Singh Dhesi and officials of the private firms for recording of statement.

The commission has earlier examined retired IAS officer and member of Union Public Service Commission Chattar Singh, who was the principal secretary to Hooda.

Singh handled files of the Town and Country Planning Department in the chief minister's office (CMO).

After being set up by the BJP government in May 2015, the scope of the commission's inquiry was widened on Justice Dhingra's advice.
