Union Minister of State Prakash Javadekar today said that he was hopeful of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) Bill to be passed in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.
"I am totally hopeful that CAMPA bill will be passed in the coming July session of Parliament. It will pave way for the country to get Rs 35,000 crore for development of forest and 'Harit' (Green) India," Javadekar, who holds the charge of Environment and Forests Ministry told reporters here.
He also informed that 200 schemes of public interest without compromising on environment norms and Rs four crore were also sanctioned for Pench Tiger Reserve.
The Minister insisted that nature can survive without human beings but not vice-versa. Therefore, therefore it is our duty to conserve it.
Referring to 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, he said that for making it successful it is necessary that the country to have facilities for proper disposal of waste.
The minister said that for the disposal of solid waste, e-waste, plastic-waste and bio-medical waste, the government has framed new laws and they are available on the ministry's website.
"We have also invited people's suggestion on the issue of disposal of waste and the same can be given by July 31," he said.
Javadekar said that the government is coming up with two new schemes, first is urban forestry scheme and the second is school nursery programme under which students would be taught how to plant a tree sapling and they would also be given training to take care of it.
He also informed that for repairing roads in forest area, automatic facility will be available and said that NDA government has taken a major initiative towards freeing tribals from exploitation by making a provision for minimum support price for the minor forest produce.
The minister also said that wherever needed, the national highways passing through forest areas will be made four-lane.
