Hosiery manufacturers to be charged by taxation department

Punjab Excise and Taxation department today said it will charge fees from hosiery manufacturers to deal with tax evasion during transportation by railways.

The decision was taken after holding discussions with representatives of hosiery manufacturers' associations and other trade bodies here.

The department will charge Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 as taxes depending on the weight of the consignments from buyers at Ludhiana railway station, Rishipal Singh, Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner said here.
