The Gujarat High Court today sought a reply from the state government in response to a public interest litigation which alleges a medical college and a hospital are operating from an under-construction building in Valsad town.
A division bench of Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice J B Pardiwala directed the state Family Welfare and Health department and Gujarat Education and Medical Research Society, which runs the hospital, to file replies.
The court has also sought replies from the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police for alleged negligence.

Aam Aadmi Party member Nishant Verma has filed the PIL, saying as it is an under-construction building, it may prove hazardous.
"The building complex is a big hazard to human life as the multi-storeyed building is in a dangerous state of construction....Bricks, iron parts, cement fall in all directions," the PIL says, adding more than 1,500 people, including students and doctors, visit it daily.
There are no basic facilities such as toilets approach road, drinking water, lifts, fire safety and emergency exits, it alleges, demanding that the hospital and the college must stop working from the building.
Further hearing will be on July 31.
