A hostel for North Eastern students will come up in South Delhi's Ramanujam College, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said here today.

The hostel, to be constructed at a cost of about Rs 40 crore, will have accommodation for 250 students. It will be in a four-storeyed building with a provision to add two more storeys, Singh said after visiting the college today.

The minister had on Monday approved a proposal for construction of a 210-room hostel for the North East students in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here.

Singh, Minister of State for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), said the government has the idea of beginning coaching centers to train students from North East region studying in Delhi for civil services and other prestigious competitive examinations in the near future.
