Police today arrested the husband of the warden of a government-run residential school for tribal students in Nalgonda district of Telangana for allegedly sexually harassing some girl inmates.

V Raju, the accused, and his wife lived on the premises of the hostel in Neredugomma area, police said.

He "used to enter the girls' rooms" and sexually harass them, as per the complaint.

Five girls, inmates of the hostel, had communicated about this to a child helpline run by an NGO, which in turn approached the Chandampet police yesterday.

A case was registered under section 354 (A) of IPC (sexual harassment) and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, said sub-inspector Satish Kumar.

The complainant girls were aged between 10-13, he said.

The police arrested Raju today and further probe was on, the officer said.
