Hot and dry weather conditions persisted at most places in Punjab and Haryana barring their common capital Chandigarh which received light showers.
The maximum temperatures across both the states hovered above normal level. Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a high of 34.5 deg C, two degrees above normal, MeT department report said.
Hisar in Haryana recorded the highest maximum in the region at 38 deg C. Ambala, Bhiwani, Karnal and Narnaul recoded Mercury at 33.6 deg C, 36.6 deg C, 34 deg C and 35 deg C respectively.
