It was a hot day in the national capital under clear skies as the mercury once again crossed the 40-degree mark making it tough for Delhiites.
The Safdarjung observatory, reading of which is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average while the minimum temperature rose to settle at 30.6 degrees, four notches above the normal, said a Met department official.
"The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal," said the official.
The city did not receive rain since yesterday.
The humidity level oscillated between 64 and 22 per cent.
As per Met office forecast, dust storm or thunderstorm may occur later in the night.
For tomorrow, the Met office has predicted overcast conditions towards afternoon and likelihood of dust storm and thunderstorm in the night.
"Mainly clear skies will become partly cloudy toward afternoon and evening. Dust storm and thunderstorm are likely to occur towards night tomorrow," the weatherman said.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 42 and 31 degrees respectively," he added.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature had settled at 26 degrees Celsius.
