Hot, humid conditions in Pb, Haryana; max temperatures soar

Hot and humid conditions today prevailed in Punjab and Haryana with maximum temperatures hovering several notches above normal level in most parts of both the states.

Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a high of 37 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, the MeT Department report said here. The city received a rainfall of 2.8 mm.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 35.6 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum of 35.7 degrees Celsius and 35.6 degrees Celsius, up to three notches above normal. Patiala received a rainfall of 0.8 mm.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded 37.3 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal while Hisar and Karnal had maximum of 35 degrees Celsius and degrees Celsius respectively.
 

According to MeT department, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in the two states over the next two days.
