Hot and muggy weather conditions today prevailed in Punjab and Haryana even as few areas across both the states experienced light showers.
In Haryana, Karnal and Narnaul received 22.6 mm and 24 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours as their maximums settled at 33.2 deg C and 34 deg C respectively, MeT department said.
Ambala and Bhiwani gauged 0.8 mm and 3 mm and their maximums were 34.6 deg C and 36 deg C. Hisar had a high of 37.8 deg C, up by two notches above normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded marginal rainfall of 0.8 mm and its maximum was 35 deg C, up by 3 notches above normal. Mercury in Amritsar and Patiala touched 36.5 deg C and 34.1 deg C mark respectively.
UT Chandigarh had a high of 34.9 deg C, up by two notches above normal.
The weather department predicted light to moderate rains at few places in the neighbouring states in the next 24 hours.
