Hot and humid weather conditions today prevailed in most parts of Punjab and Haryana with maximum temperatures rising several notches above normal in various parts of both the states.
Union territory Chandigarh recorded its maximum at 35.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, a MeT department report said today.
Among other places in Haryana, Ambala, Bhiwani, Hisar and Karnal recorded their maximum at 35.9 degrees Celsius, 37.2 degrees Celsius, 37.5 degrees Celsius and 36.8 degrees Celsius, rising by up to 4 notches above normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana settled at 37.5 degrees Celsius and 35.6 degrees Celsius, up by two degrees above normal while Patiala had a high of 36.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
MeT department has predicted light to moderate rain at isolated places of Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
