Hot and humid condition prevailed in most parts of gangetic West Bengal today, while there is little possibility of heavy rains in the next two days in the region, the Met department said here.

In Kolkata, the day temperature was 36.1 degrees, while Asansol recorded 35.5 degrees Celsius.

High humidity coupled with heat led to high levels of discomfort among people in Gangetic West Bengal, including the metropolis.

Jalpaiguri received 17.3 mm rainfall, while in the hill town of Darjeeling it was recorded at 2 mm.

The Met department has forecast one or two spells of rain for the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar in the next one or two days, while for Gangetic West Bengal, the forecast is of partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain.
