Hot, humid weather prevails in Punjab, Haryana

Hot and humid conditions prevailed in most parts of Punjab and Haryana today with maximum temperatures settling well above normal levels.

While mercury hovered two to four degrees above normal in most parts of the region, the MeT office said that humidity leevls ranged between 70 to 85 per cent at many places.

Hisar was hottest with a high of 39.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, while Narnaul recorded 38.3 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, and Ambala's maximum settled at 36.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

The Union territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, Met department said.
 

In Punjab, the maximum temperature at Amritsar and Patiala was an identical 37 degrees Celsius, two and four notches above normal respectively, while Ludhiana recorded 36 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, three notches above normal.

The MeT department forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of rains or thundershowers at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
