It was a hot sunny day in the national capital with the maximum temperature settling at 40.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 22.2 degrees, two notches below the season's average, said a Met department official.
At Palam, the maximum temperature was registered at 42 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level in air oscillated between 60 per cent and 14 per cent.
The Met office has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. Dust haze is very likely to occur towards morning and evening.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 41 and 23 degrees," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature had settled at 40.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at at 21.2 degrees.
