Hot weather persisted in north India today as the region, barring parts of Rajasthan, continued to experience dry conditions.
It was yet another hot and humid day in the national capital with the maximum temperature settling at 38.2 degrees Celsius. Though the day temperature came down from yesterday's 39.4 degrees Celsius, it settled above the normal level.
According to the MeT department, today's maximum was five notches above normal. The minimum temperature settled at 27.5 degrees, a notch above normal. Humidity levels in Delhi oscillated between 64 and 41 per cent during the day.
In Punjab and Haryana too, hot weather conditions prevailed. Hisar was hottest in the region with a maximum of 38.5 degrees Celsius.
Mercury in the Union Territory of Chandigarh settled at 36.4 degrees, three notches above normal.
In Haryana, Bhiwani recorded a maximum of 37.6 degrees, Ambala 35.3 and Karnal 34.5 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Patiala braved a hot day at 36.8 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded a high of 34.8 degrees while Ludhiana's maximum settled at 35.8 degrees.
Several places in Rajasthan, however, received light to moderate rain. The Southwest Monsoon was little active over the state's southern and eastern regions covering Udaipur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Chittorgarh districts, according to a MeT report.
Amet in Rajsamand district recorded the state's maximum rainfall at 5 cm since yesterday evening, the MeT report said.
Vallabhnagar, Mavalli, Bhilwara recorded rainfall of 4-cm each; followed by Salamber, Taranagar and Desuri 3-cm each; and Aspur, Raipur, Paroli, Ramgarh, Lasatia, Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand and Shekhawati 2-cm each. Several other places also received rain.
Churu was the hottest place in the state with a maximum of 40.3 degrees Celsius while state capital Jaipur recorded a maximum of 38.7 degrees.
