House burgled of Rs 16 lakh cash in Phagwara

A house was found burgled of cash and valuables reportedly worth over Rs 17 lakh at local Palahi road here today, police said.

The occupant of the house, Parminder Kaur, had gone to Banga on June 23 to attend the marriage of a relative.

When she returned here today, she found the locks of the house broken opened, and claimed that burglars decamped with Rs 16 lakh cash and 50 grams gold ornaments worth over Rs one lakh, police said.

The burglars also took away with them CCTV cameras fitted in the house by the occupants.

The cash was kept in the house by Parminder's sister Jaswinder Kaur for the purpose of buying a plot, they said.
 

The burglars entered the house by scaling the front gate and broke opened the locks of rooms to commit burglary, police said.

Parminder's husband was settled abroad and she lived in the house along with with another lady, police said.
