A gang of robbers looted jewellery and other valuables, worth Rs 6 lakh, from the house of a multinational firm executive at the posh Sainik Colony of Faridabad, holding his six-month-old daughter at pistol point, police said today.

The incident took place on August 27 at the Sainik Colony residence of Subrat Mishra, who works with a multinational company in Delhi. Mishra told police that his in-laws residing in Gurgaon had come to stay with them on that day.

At 3 AM, Mishra and his wife woke up from their sleep to find themselves surrounded by four unidentified men. As the couple woke up, one of the robbers picked up their six-month-old daughter and put a pistol to her head.

Threatening to kill the infant, the robbers forced all the family members into a room, and looted diamond, gold and silver jewalleries, other valuables, Rs 5,000 in cash and a tablet PC. They also took away debit and credit cards.

While fleeing, the robbers warned Mishra of dire consequences if he reported the matter to police. The matter was later reported to police by a neighbour.

Yogesh Kumar, in-charge of Sainik Colony police post, said that the robbers made their way into the house by cutting iron grill of the window. He said that special security has been provided to the family.

The total loss, in the loot, is estimated to be over Rs 6 lakh, said the investigating officer.

A case was registered at SGM Nagar police station yesterday under sections 380 (theft) and 458 (house-breaking) of the IPC and sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
